Club Meeting – March 22, 2012

A club meeting (our first official meeting!) will be held Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 7PM on the second floor of the Belk Building (at Western Carolina University). We will meet in the lobby on the second floor near the vending machines.

You do not need to be a member to attend, and in fact, attendance by local HAMs and those who are interested is strongly encouraged!  Co-ordination and talk-in will be provided on the 444.700+ (131.8) Machine. See you there!

SkyWarn Class – March 6, 2012

A SkyWarn certification class will be held in Haywood County, March 6, at 7PM for Basic Spotter Training. The class is being held by the Greenville/Spartanburg NWS Office in South Carolina, and will meet in the Waynesville Masonic Lodge, located at 435 E Marshall st.

SkyWarn is comprised of people just like you, who help the National Weather Service observe weather in realtime. Membership is encouraged specifically to HAM Radio Operators, as severe weather may affect traditional communications.

We will be conducting a Fox-Hunt on Friday, February 17. All are welcome to join us, we will meet on the U.C. Lawn to start the hunt. Hunting is open to all, even those who are not licensed as HAM operators.

We ask that good sense is used when locating the fox. Please do not do anything that may damage property/landscaping, and remember, you are representing HAM Radio Operators Everywhere!

Co-ordination will take place on the 444.700 machine, and hunting will start at approximately 2PM.
